Vancouver is one of Canada’s most diverse cities, rich in heritage and culture. The nightlife is exciting, and there is always something going on that will entice old and young alike. If you are visiting this magnificent city in the near future, you’ll want to include these five attractions into your itinerary.
1) Stanley Park: Even though this is located in the heart of Vancouver, you won’t feel like you’re in the city. You’ll be surrounded by over 1000 acres of parklands, trails, forests, lakes and wildlife. Also home to the Vancouver Aquarium, this is definitely one attraction you will not want to miss.
2) Gastown: Named after the first settler to Vancouver, “Gassy Jack,” this area of the city is filled with cobbled streets, courtyards and charming Victorian architecture. You’ll feel that you’ve gone back in time as you wander the streets.
3) Fraser Canyon: Go back to the gold rush days and experience what it’s like to pan for gold. This unique location has seven mountain canyons and goes through the heart of British Columbia.
4) Burnaby Village Museum and Carousel: This 1920′s community comes complete with greeters welcoming you in their period costumes. Visit the clerk at the general store, or have a stop at the blacksmith’s shop.
5) Classical Chinese Garden: Enjoy the wide variety of flowers year-round, rain or shine. Free guided tours are available regularly.
Vancouver is one of the most populous cities in Canada, and offers amazing attractions and views. No matter what season it is when you visit, you’ll find a wide variety of things to do. Mountain climbing, snorkelling, water skiing, snow skiing and more await you. Winters are generally mild with more rain than snow; a few hours north will get you the snow you’re looking for. Check your local forecast before you go so you know what type of clothes to pack.
There is no shortage of nightlife, so if you’re up for an exciting time check out the many bars and clubs that surround the city. Talk to your travel agent to find out if any of the above attractions can be included as an all-inclusive package. There are also coupons and discounts you can purchase online. Be aware though, that there are many scams out there; make sure you buy from a reputable company, and the tickets you purchase are in fact real. You don’t want to be disappointed when you show up at your favourite attraction and find out the tickets aren’t real.
