If you travel often, keep a packed bag nearby. Even if you can’t have your entire luggage packed ahead of time, always have a travel bag with toiletries, pyjamas, socks and other necessities ready to go. When you have to prepare for a trip, you’ll have an easy time getting your luggage together. The less bags you have, the easier it will be to travel by car or to get on and off the rail.

Smaller stations will have less people waiting, which will make it easier to snag a seat as soon as you step on. Plus, you won’t have to walk for miles just to get to your train.

For example, if you have to take a train and also rent a car, it may be cheaper to just do one of the other. The more time you take to travel, the less time you’ll have at your destination and the longer your trip will be. The more the trip is dragged out, the more expenses will accrue. A few extra hours on the road could mean more gas and more stops for food.
