La Ronde Montreal is One of My Favorite Amusement Parks in Canada
I love to travel instead of just sitting in my back yard all summer long, so anywhere that I can go to within a day’s driving distance without spending a lot of money is a bonus for me and my family. We live in Ottawa, Ontario Canada and love to get away for the day, so we decided to go to Montreal’s La Ronde which is about a two and a half hours drive east of Ottawa. We headed out on a sunny summer day and arrived just in time for the opening of the park. La Ronde is owned and operated by a US company called Six Flags, which are known for having a number of amusement parks throughout the USA.
I had never been to La Ronde before in all the years I have lived in Ottawa. We had a really fun day going on all the rides, in particular the ride La Splash and Pitoune which are both water rides that have been a fixture in the park for years. The great thing that I like about the amusement park is how concentrated everything is, so it is easy to get to all the roller coaster rides and amusements without having to walk for miles. One of the popular roller coaster rides was lined up for over an hour and a half, so I suggest that you need to find out which rides are the most popular in advance and if you are there for the opening, go on the most popular rides first as lineups can happen very quickly.
La Ronde has an abundance of restaurants including Pizza-Pizza, Greek Food, Poutine, French Fries, and for ten dollars you can get a souvenir drink cup which you can refill all day long at no extra charge.
For small kids, the park has a lot of great rides along with a McDonalds restaurant in the kids zone and a small water park to cool off with on hot days. Bigger kids will love the variety of roller coaster rides and water rides as well. All in all, we had so much fun we are going to make the trek to Montreal an annual event and take in some downtown sights at the same time.
