Top 4 Cities to Visit on Your Canada Holidays

Oh, Canada! This massive landmass is oft forgotten about, yet it is as large and diverse as the United States. The people of Canada are welcoming and friendly to visitors and the cities range from extremely cosmopolitan Toronto to laid back Ottawa, the nation’s capital city. There is pretty much something for everyone in Canada, whether you love the outdoors or crave nights out on the town. For those city slickers, here are the top five cities to visit on your Canada holidays.

Toronto. The obvious choice, this most well known of Canadian cities is often mistaken for the country’s capital city due to its size and cosmopolitan atmosphere. Toronto is as diverse a city as they come, with a huge range of wonderful restaurants, museums, attractions and an amazing skyline of tall buildings. Situated on Lake Ontario not far from Niagara Falls, Toronto almost feels coastal with its lakeside beaches and splendid water views. It is also one of the most eco-friendly cities on earth.

Montreal. If you drive due north from Albany, New York and over the Canadian border, you will run into this charming old world city. Situated in the strongly French province of Quebec, Montreal is equally as Francophile and it’s historic centre, known as Old Montreal, features among other things, its very own Notre Dame cathedral!

Quebec City. Just a little ways northeast of Montreal is the provincial capital, Quebec City. Though lesser known, Quebec City has perhaps the best-preserved old town in all of Canada, with a series of meandering cobblestone streets and tipsy wooden buildings dating to the 17th century.

Vancouver. This laid back West Coast city is outdoorsy and chic, with plenty of great cafes, coffee shops and seafood restaurants to give its American neighbour to the south, Seattle, a real run for its money. Vancouver is set in among a series of inlets and bays, giving it a stunning natural environment that is well worth more than a passing glance.
