Vancouver British Columbia – Great Vacation Ideas

Planning a trip to Vancouver? It started out as Canada’s port to the Asian market, but now has become even more. Vancouver has grown into one of Canada’s most prominent cities as well as one of Canada’s most beautiful. Located in south-west British Columbia, Canada Vancouver borders both sides of the Georgia Strait, the Fraser River and the Coastal Mountains.

Vancouver dataThe Greater Vancouver area, also referred to as the lower main land has a population of roughly 2,249,725 (according to 2007 estimate). It is western Canada’s largest metropolis and third largest in the country. Vancouver is home to many different ethnic groups, with 43 percent of the metropolitan area residents having English as their first language.

Some AttractionsThe ethnic diversity itself is one of the great reasons to come to Vancouver. It is like no other city in Canada. The ethnic diversity has lead to many different types of restaurants as well as malls. Aberdeen center is located in Richmond and was designed to resemble malls that are found in Asia, specifically Hong Kong. Anchored by Daiso, Aberdeen offers a shopping experience unlike any other malls.

Other malls located in Vancouver include Metrotown, Oakridge, Richmond Center, Pacific Center, Surrey Place and Coquitlam Center. Vancouver also has Robson Street, which is a street devoted to brand name shops and is home to some of the best shopping in the world.

All trips to Vancouver should also include a trip to Stanley Park. Located just outside downtown Vancouver, Stanley Park offers a great retreat to Vancouverites as well as tourists alike. One can bike or blade or walk around the beautiful serene park.

Other great activities which I will cover in upcoming articles include: Granville Island, Grouse Mountain, the Annual Celebration of Light, Kitsilano Beach, the SkyTrain as well as many other attractions.
